At EcoThrive Initiatives, we believe economy and ecology are inexorably linked. Local economies cannot improve without readily available access to safely managed drinking water and sanitation to ensure human health. Likewise, reliably maintained sources of clean drinking water and proper sanitation require a stable economy for service and maintenance.
Our Approach
The EcoThrive Approach
We award microgrants and training to local entrepreneurs who want to create a positive economic impact in their community by launching small companies that install water and/or sanitation equipment and properly service the new facility. We ask the local community leaders to tell us what they need instead of providing a one-size-fits-all solution for every project.

Simply installing facilities without a strategy for ongoing maintenance services makes them destined to fail. The addition of training for the local entrepreneur drives business expansion and improves the lives of more people. As the business grows, additional employees can be hired, creating a sustainable economic and environmental impact.
